Just one of our volunteers - Jay

Jay

Hi, I'm a single mum of three lovely kids and come from 'out Barnsley way'. How did I get involved with theRiding for the Disabled? Well, the Job Centre rang me up to see if I'd be interested in doing 8 weeks of voluntary work at the Rossington RDA. I want to work in the Care Sector and working with horses was a plus side.

I have finished my 8 weeks but I was hooked! I now choose to go, and when I can afford it do that twice a week, but I would say if I could, I would be there everyday. It's great, the staff there are friendly, and all the volunteers are great too and friendly. Not forgetting the horses of course, they are gorgeous. It has improved my confidence loads as I'm abit agoraphobic. It also will be good for my CV when I'm looking for jobs. So - hopefully soon I will be in work in the Care Sector either working with the elderly or disabled.

Going to the RDA has given my life a little more meaning, and I also find it very relaxing and rewarding.
